Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Opal Louise Mercer Noble, age 79

Opal Louise Mercer Noble, 79, of Ward, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2024. Born on September 1, 1945, in Warren, Arkansas, Opal was the loving daughter of Joseph Carl Mercer and Retha Louise McKinney Mercer.

Opal’s life was defined by her unwavering faith, commitment to family, and spirit of service. She and her husband, Larry Don Noble, shared 57 years of marriage, during which they created a home founded on love, faith, and family values. Throughout her career as an insurance adjuster, Opal selflessly helped many families in need.

She was the proud mother of her only child, Michelle Noble Green (Keith), and the adoring grandmother of four cherished grandsons: Maxwell, Kade, Kyle, and Chris. Her grandsons were the pride and joy of her life.

As the eldest daughter, Opal shared a close bond with Katherine Garrison (John), Linda Russell (Porter), Kenneth Mercer (Susan), James Mercer (Diane), and Billy Mercer. She cherished the moments spent with them and held a lifetime of fond memories of their childhood and adult life together. She held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews.

Opal’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found peace and strength in daily prayers, reading her Bible, and living out the values she held dear. She found solace in her belief in the promise of eternal life. She was an active member of Cabot First United Methodist Church and proudly served as a 50-year member of the Levy Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

Opal had many talents and hobbies that reflected her loving and generous spirit. She was an incredible cook who delighted family and friends with her meals. An avid reader, she often finished novels in a single sitting. Her sewing talents were remarkable, and her handmade quilts and blankets will be cherished by her family for generations.

Opal will be remembered for her sweet and generous spirit, her steadfast devotion to her family, and the kindness she extended to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Don Noble; her daughter, Michelle Noble Green (Keith); her grandsons, Maxwell, Kade, Kyle, and Chris; her siblings, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Retha Mercer; her brothers, Allen and Bobby Mercer; her in-laws, RE and Alma Noble; and her Aunt Hilma Hembree.

Her service will be held at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076.
