Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Charles Asbury Sewell III, age 57

Charles Asbury Sewell III, age 57, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on January 8, 2025. He was born on September 24, 1967, the son of Charles Sewell II and Phyllis A. (Coutler) Sewell.

Charles was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas to selflessly take care of his grandparents. He graduated from La Porte High School in 1986. Charles was a phenomenal athlete, playing baseball on scholarships at Sam Houston State University, San Jacinto College, and Richland Junior College. He also played college football on scholarship for Henderson State University.

Charles had many passions, but he especially loved cars, working on cars, and watching games with his son. He loved his childhood friends, the Brookglen Boys, and all of his sports teammates. Charles was a loyal friend. He always put everyone before himself, and he would always lend a helpful hand to others. He was known as the “cool guy”; always sporty and fun. Charles was extremely compassionate and had the biggest heart, and he was extremely funny. His humor is what people will remember most of him.

Charles is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles A. Sewell SR; grandmother, Ruby Maxine Sewell; father, Charles Sewell JR; mother, Phyllis A. Sewell; grandfather, Dwight Coutler; and grandmother, Linnie Coutler.

He is survived by his wife, Rika Sewell; four children Celine Noosha Rhea with husband Mason David Rhea, Lauren Negean Sewell, Chase Amir Sewell, and Maverick Zurita; many loving grandchildren; two sisters Phyllis Christine Jorgensen and Amanda Drusilla Simmons; a host of nieces and great-nieces; as well as many friends and an extended family.
