Algerine Virginia Loving, age 86, of Jacksonville, Arkansas transitioned on February 25, 2025. She was born in Galloway, Arkansas on December 13, 1938, one of 18 children born to parents Johnny and Alberta (Holland) Ready.
Algerine is preceded in death by her parents; husband Willie B. Loving; 4 brothers Norvell, Norris Sr., Charles, and James Sr.; 5 sisters Florene, Lovice, Nadine, Doretha, and Thelma.
She is survived by her daughter Carol L. Ready; son Darren L. Loving (Delila); 8 grandchildren Tavares Thomas (Yusheka), Ray Thomas Jr. (Bovae), Keysa Thomas, Cameron Loving, Alexondra Loving, Jayden Loving (Emilee), Jordan Fleetwood (Kim), and Jarah Fleetwood; 22 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Cornell and Hollis Ready; 3 sisters Zelda Jones, Jewell Horton, and Gladis Allison; special friends Ola B. McClinton, Mary Ann Meadough, and Emmitt Martin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Algerine’s love for her extended family knew no bounds, and their cherished memories together will forever live on in their hearts.
Algerine attended Pulaski County Training School, presently known as Harris Elementary. She was a graduate of the Class of 1957. Algerine spent most of her adult life as a homemaker which allowed her to tap into her many hidden talents. Gardening was one of her favorite past times. She spent a lot of time planting, growing and caring for her fruits, vegetables and flowers that she grew all in the comfort of her backyard. She enjoyed using her hands making, building and fixing things. She did not believe in being wasteful so one person’s junk always became her treasure. If she found something on the curb, she knew how to take it home, clean it up, fix it up and make it like new again. She may not have been the best Cook, but she really knew how to throw down when it came to baking those pies and her most infamous pineapple cake. In her earlier years she worked at Ottenheimers as a seamstress making clothes for Sears & Robucks and in her spare time she made dresses, suits, and attire for many people. She was also a member of the NCO Wives Bowling League.
Algerine was not the social butterfly. She didn’t care about the glitz and glam. She loved her family and had unique relationship with each and every one in her life. She was a strong willed, tough love, no nonsense kind of woman who was set in her ways, but the love was always there.
Algerine accepted Christ at an early age and sang in the church choir at Holy Grove AME Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas where she was a long-time member. Algerine loved her family deeply and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
