Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Richard Ronald “Ronnie” Bivens, age 76

Without notice, Richard Ronald “Ronnie” Bivens, aged 76, died on February 4, 2025. Typical.

Affectionately referred to as Newt, Bluto, and Uncle Ronnie, he was a master at causing both smiles and groans simultaneously. His unique ability to bring joy and exasperation endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A native of Lonoke, Arkansas, he graduated from LHS in 1966. Ronnie lived his bachelor days to the fullest. He was known to hop into his convertible and head to Oaklawn alongside his buddies, where questionable decisions and many unforgettable memories were made. His career was as diverse as his interests, including stints as a roofer, truck driver, and even a bookie when the occasion called for it.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Marcelle Bivens, brothers Jimmy and Randy Bivens, and one nephew, Owen Bivens. He is survived by one brother, Johnny Bivens (Elsie), sister-in-law Vicki Bivens, nephews Mark, Timothy, and Matt Bivens, and nieces Rebecca Pieroni and Melissa Keith.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Knute never met a stranger and was always my friend. No matter how long it had been since we had seen each other, he always had that same mischievous smile. Love ya, Knute!
