Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Cheryl Lyn Brown, age 65

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cheryl Brown, who left this world far too soon. Cheryl was a devoted wife, a loving mother, an adoring Nana, and a cherished friend to so many. She passed away on March 26, 2025, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.

Cheryl was born to Ken and Ina Headrick, who welcomed her into heaven with open arms. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years, Jim Brown, whose love and partnership were the foundation of her life. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of love that left an imprint on everyone who walked through their door.

Cheryl’s heart overflowed with love for her children: Tim (Kim), Mike (Becca), and Kendyl (Stephen). She poured her heart and soul into raising them, teaching them through her example to be kind, compassionate, and giving. Her love only grew as her family expanded, and she found immeasurable joy in her role as “Nana” to her precious grandchildren: Matthew, Melyana, Nate, Audri, Eli, and Arya. Each one held a special place in her heart, and they hung the moon and all the stars in her sky.

She is also survived by her loving sister, Vicki, and her niece and nephew, Megan and Garrett, who brought her so much joy. Cheryl’s bond with her sister was one of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Her love for her family extended far and wide, and she made sure everyone around her felt valued and cherished.

Cheryl’s creativity was boundless. Her hands were rarely still, always painting, crafting, or creating something beautiful. Every holiday, every season, her home was transformed by her artistic touch — a reflection of the love she had for making life beautiful not only for her family but for everyone around her. She gave so freely of her talents, creating gifts for friends, family, and even those she had only just met. Her joy was found in giving, and her creations were more than just objects — they were pieces of her heart.

Her love extended far beyond her family. Cheryl had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. She was a listener, an encourager, and a friend who could light up a room with her warmth. Her laughter was infectious, her kindness endless, and her spirit was a beacon of light in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her.

Though our hearts ache with her absence, we are comforted by the lasting impact she left behind. Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will forever be a part of the lives she shaped.

A Poem for Cheryl

“She is Gone” by David Harkins

You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.

Cheryl’s love and light will never fade. Though her hands are now still, the beauty she created in this world — through her family, her art, and her kindness — will continue to shine brightly. We were all so blessed to be loved by her.

In honor of her memory, the family asks that you carry her spirit forward by doing something kind, creative, and loving — just as she always did. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food bank. They work tirelessly to help those in their local communities with something that most of us take for granted – the basics in life.
