Doris Faye Broomfield, age 78, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away on March 23, 2025. She was born in Rosston, Arkansas on November 13, 1946 to Gernard “Gunner” and Carnell (McClendon) Blakely.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Herbert Blakely.
She is survived by her son Santana A. Paschall; two grandchildren Sanlaniqua Birts and Amina Paschall; three great-grandchildren Gabriel Johnson, Coraniqua Birts, and Gabriella Birts; siblings Carmelita Box, Lawrence Blakely, Vernita Blakely, and Bobbie Hamilton; many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; special friends Rod Loy, Mattie Ruth, Lynn and Jay Neighbors; classmate Barbara Jackson; along with her church family at First Assembly in North Little Rock and the staff at The Springs of John Barrow who took excellent care of Doris.
Doris graduated valedictorian from Philander Smith College. She started out as a dietician and later became a nurse in her working life. If something went wrong with anybody, she could tell you what to do to fix it. Doris loved the Lord and enjoyed every moment of being a ministering prophet known as “Mother Broomfield”. She liked to sew and made many quilts, throws, and pillows. She loved to cook and bake tea cakes. Any delicious sweet that came to her mind, she could bake. After every visit, you would leave with her love, her wisdom, and a care package full of food for the road. Doris was an avid gardener. She grew Four O’clocks, raised vines, and many other flowers. She watered her flowers every day. If you rode by her house, she was probably outside in her flower bed. Doris gave the best advice and was a wise woman. She was a talker, but bled God’s love on everyone she met. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
