In Loving Memory of Joseph Paige Upton
June 21, 1964 – March 14, 2025
Joseph Paige Upton, known to all who loved him as Paige, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), surrounded by his family. After a courageous battle with leukemia, Paige’s gentle spirit was finally at rest. He was 60 years old.
Born on June 21, 1964, in West Memphis, Arkansas, Paige entered this world alongside his twin brother, James Peyton, bringing joy and love to their parents, Richard Hugh Upton and Patricia Pulliam Upton. From the beginning, the brothers were inseparable. Their bond was one of a kind, and together, they left behind a trail of wild, hilarious stories—full of pranks, jokes, and maybe even a little property damage.
Paige grew up in West Memphis before moving to Heber Springs during his junior year of high school, where he graduated. He later attended the University of Arkansas, where he pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon, a decision that reflected his love for brotherhood and connection.
Throughout his life, Paige was many things to many people. His creativity flowed into his artistic endeavors, as he had a remarkable gift for seeing the world through an artist’s eye. He was also a true sports fan who lived for everything Arkansas Razorbacks. His enthusiasm for the hogs was rivaled only by his passion for movies and peanut butter m&ms. His love for his pets was well known; he was a gentle soul who treated all living creatures with kindness and respect.
However, it wasn’t just his hobbies that left a lasting impression; it was his character. Paige’s heart was as big as his smile, and he impacted every life he touched. His involvement within the recovery community touched those in need of support and guidance. He shared his story with others, lifting them up, encouraging them, and inspiring them to persevere, just as he was supported by others.
Paige leaves behind his beloved daughter, June Elizabeth Upton, who resides in New York City. He is also survived by his father, Richard Upton of Heber Springs; his twin brother, Peyton (Cindy) Upton of Heber Springs; and his three cherished nieces and nephews, James, Jordan, and Martha.
Paige’s absence leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and warmth will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held in Heber Springs, Arkansas at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00am.
