Raymond Joseph Burns

Raymond Joseph Burns (Joe), age 68, from Holland, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 22nd, surrounded by many of his loved ones.

Joe was born in Lynwood, California, and was the only son of Ralph Burton Burns and Mary Elizabeth McCarthy. He moved to Arkansas in his early childhood and has resided there ever since.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, daughter Miranda Joe, grandson Dakota, brother-in-law Tom Gamelin, and his beloved dog, Sadie Mae. He is survived by his wife, Mary Carlene Burns; his sons Kenny Burns (Kelli), Adam (Jessie), Andy (Brooke); and grandchildren Bentley C., Bayleigh, Maddox, Emma, Aeson, Cheyenne (Dakota), Nikki, Hope (Christian), Lillian Grace, Shiann, Justin, Brayden, Bentley J., and Emma, with six great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Cole, Arley, Savannah, Braylyn, and Isaiah, as well as his sisters, Sally Gamelin, Sandy Burns, and Mary Sherwood (Gary), along with many nieces and nephews.

Joe was employed at Masonry IV as a brick mason, an expert in his profession, serving as head foreman for many years.

He loved to hunt and took great pride in gardening, but he especially loved having family gatherings whenever possible. From his youth, he developed remarkable cooking skills that he continued to expand upon throughout his life. It was a great joy for him to share his delicious cuisine with others.

Joe’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30th, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at The Cowboy Church, 12 Highway 36, Conway, Arkansas 72032.
