David Wayne Talbert, age 70 of Jacksonville, Arkansas, went to be with his risen Lord Jesus Christ on Good Friday, April 18th, 2025. Dead in body, alive in Spirit for eternity. He was born on September 20th, 1954 in Little Rock, AR to the late George Edward Talbert and Norma Jean (Smith) Talbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James (Jet) Edward Talbert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Dixie (Haskins) Talbert; his daughter Danielle (Kevin) Suel; his son Drew (Kristen) Talbert; two grandchildren, Bryson and Norah; two sisters, Kathleen (David) Jennings, and Jeanine (Randy) Hendrix; one brother Mark Talbert; and many nieces and nephews.
David was a proud (SBC) pastor for 45 years throughout Arkansas (Chidester, Lawson, Crossett, Harrison, and Jacksonville). He retired in December 2024 from Bayou Meto Baptist after 17 years of service. He loved living life to the fullest. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, traveling to Maine, listening to oldies music, playing card and board games, working crossword puzzles, eating lobster and all things blueberry. But most of all he loved Jesus and his family!
He fought a long battle with kidney disease, all the while remaining faithful and full of hope. All who knew him throughout his illness, family, friends, church family and even his doctors and nurses who cared for him were always impressed by his upbeat attitude no matter how he felt. His testimony of strength, faith and hope will live on in all who knew him.
There will be a memorial service held on April 26th, 2025 at 2:00pm at Bayou Meto Baptist Church (26200 Highway 107, Jacksonville, AR), followed by a good ol’ Southern Baptist fellowship.
In honor of David’s love and passion for missions, where God’s Word is shared around the globe, memorial gifts can be sent to Bayou Meto Baptist Church and will be distributed among the following; foreign missionaries: The Sager Family, The Thomas Family, and the Lottie Moon Mission Fund.

I will miss my friend, pastor and fishing buddy. Never knew anyone that loved fishing more than he did. He was a fine Christian man and I’m glad to have known him the past seventeen years. Congratulations Bro. David, you are home!!
We were so blessed to know you, just wish it had been longer. We know you are rejoicing with the Lord. Until we meet again.
Ms. Dixie, I’m so sorry to hear of your sweet hubby‘s passing. I know there was lots of singing and shouting in heaven this weekend! God bless you and your family, Melissa Cole, formally FBC Maumelle, *Now Calvary Baptist Church, Little Rock.
Great man and great man of God. A wonderful friend.
From seminary days until now -David ‘walked the walked.’ Now that he has a new address, the blessings of the promises of God are fully a reality. David – see you one day again.
You are loved and missed already. You baptized my granddaughter, performed the wedding of my daughter, and did the service for my dad’s funeral. I’m proud to have been a member of one of your churches. You never veered from the truth and always stood on Gods truth. You fought a good fight, but have received the ultimate reward! I know you are rejoicing and singing praises to Our Lord. Rest in Peace Bro. David, until we meet again..
Brother David was such a true servant to our God! I know there were times he must have struggled to preach to the congregation, and yet he stood strong and faithful! Mike and I feel so blessed to have known him as our pastor and friend. Greatly he will be missed by many until we all get to gather together with God. He is healed, he won his battle through Christ!
I loved David and Dixie as family during my time when I was at North Crossett FBC. I thank God for the time we shared.
Bro. David will be missed. Thank you for loving our family.

Dear Dixie, Danielle, Drew, and family,
We are saddened to hear of Bro. David’s passing; however, we know he is with Jesus!! What joy for David!!
We are praying for each of you as you learn how to live without Bro. David physically on earth.
Perhaps it will be of some encouragement to you to know that each of you and Bro. David have always been so precious to us!! Ever since we first met at Northvale Baptist Church in Harrison, each of you accepted us and loved us and we loved/love you right back. Thank you!!
We will also be forever thankful to Bro. David for baptizing Tim, our oldest son Ben, and myself as a family after Tim and Ben accepted Jesus. Bro. David, and each of you, have influenced our lives in such lasting and positive ways.
Thank you.
Miss you and prayers to the family, I will never forget him and his family while they were at Lawson Baptist Church.
