Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Marvin Duell Newsom, age 59

Marvin Duell Newsom, age 59, of El Paso, Arkansas, passed away on April 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 24, 1966, in Little Rock, Marvin was a devoted husband, loving father, proud pawpaw, and loyal friend. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless light and laughter into his life. Marvin was more of a quiet and reserved person, especially until he got to know you — but around close friends and family, his warm, outgoing nature truly shined.

He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors — whether it was simply mowing the grass, piddling, sitting out in a lawn chair, or recalling his young adult years spent coon hunting. He especially cherished his time as a master hound, judging dogs and bench shows, making countless memories alongside close friends.

Marvin was a dedicated and respected employee of Razorback Concrete for 20 years, serving as a shop foreman and mechanic. His coworkers were like family to him, and he took immense pride in his work and the strong relationships he built there.

Those who knew Marvin will fondly remember his love for music — whether he was riding down the road or relaxing at home, he was often seen dancing or bobbing his head to a favorite tune.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Darrell Hill; his sister, Laura Marie Newsom; his grandparents, Catherine and Marshall Newsom and Maggie Griffin; and his beloved in-laws, Joe and Emil Salmon.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, BJ Newsom; daughter Brittney Witty (Chris); son Darrell Newsom (Courtney); four cherished grandchildren: Brady and Mackenzie Newsom, and Malachi and Avery Witty; his mother, Frances Hill; brother, Norman Newsom (Lara); and a host of extended family and many dear friends.

Marvin’s legacy of love, quiet strength, and hard work will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:00am with funeral service starting at 11:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Burial to follow at Weir Cemetery in McRae.
