Ronald (nicknamed Ronnie), 75, passed away due to cardiac arrest on April 22, 2025 at 10:47 pm. He had been admitted to Springhill Baptist North Hospital Little Rock AR due to having suffered a fall.
Ronnie is survived by two stepdaughters Marie and Kay, and one stepson Eddy, and granddaughter Melissa. Also two sisters, Peggy and Linda and one brother Jerry along with many nieces and nephews.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Elva Shepherd. Also brothers George Eddy , Jack and Byrd Shepherd. Sisters Wilma Laws and Brenda Jo Howell.
Ronnie was born November 27, 1948 at Gulston. KY. The family moved to Lee County, VA where Ronnie attended Rose Hill Elementary School as well as Thomas Walker High School. Graduating in 1967 Ronnie joined the Navy and attended The Great Lakes Navel Academy, then served through The Vietnam War. Ronnie found computers and electronics to be part of his education in the service. He enjoyed several years employment after his service.
Ronnie was a considerate, loving family man. He loved his wife, Mary. They enjoyed years of traveling cross country while driving their own big rig. Sadly, after retirement Ronnie lost the love of his life, Mary. He also suffered health issues including diabetes and throat cancer. Ronnie was a veteran, and a mild-mannered thoughtful man who treated people with kindness. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ronald (Ronnie to us), was a dear beloved brother. He was always kind, and considerate, from childhood. A happy and very smart student, who lead his high school band as Drum Major in every parade. Ronnie served in the Navy through the Vietnam War. He was a veteran, loving family man and will be in our hearts and memories forevermore. RIP

Uncle Ronnie took me out on the aircraft carrier USS Kittyhawk on a dependents day cruise and I had a wonderful time. He was in charge of the ship’s radar systems and had a big responsibility. I will miss him much and everyone loved him. He was always a gentleman and very kind person. Rest well Uncle Ronnie
