David Langdon Dawson, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 70. He was a father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, whose kind spirit, soft heart, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him.
David was born on August 14, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Nathaniel and Jewell Dean Ashmore Dawson, and spent much of his life in North Little Rock, with his family. The Ashmore-Dawson Family are pillars of Leach Chapel CME Church in North Little Rock, where he accepted Christ at a young age, later becoming a member of Faith Lutheran Church, in Little Rock, and rededicating his life to Christ before he transitioned from this earth.
David attended Scipio A. Jones Jr. High School, and after graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1972, attended Philander Smith College (University). He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad, North Little Rock Electric Company, Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Lindsey’s BBQ.
In 2007, he moved to Los Angeles, California and later to Arlington, Texas, before returning to Arkansas in 2021. Known for his interest in various subjects, from mathematics to sports, and having a sharp memory, David could recall important dates and historical facts with ease. On the day he left this early vessel, he most likely thought that it was no coincidence that it was the same day as his parents wedding anniversary, who proceeded him in death.
He is survived by the mothers of his children: Ms. Mary Williams, with whom he shared his daughter, Katrina Annice Dawson Owoh, and Ms. Ann Dawson, with whom he shared his two sons, Vincent David Dawson and Stephen Anthony Dawson.
His daughter, Katrina, and her husband, Dr. Jeremy Strickland Owoh, reside in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and are the proud parents of Jaxon Nathaniel Strickland Owoh. His son, Vincent and his wife, Cinnamon, reside in Mesa, Arizona, and are the proud parents of Berkley Adeline Dawson and Langdon Randall Dawson, and son, Stephen and his wife, Shawna, reside in Westminster, Colorado, and are the proud parents of Jaden Anthony Randall.
He is also survived by his siblings: brothers, Darnell Dawson (Linda) of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Harold Dawson of Atlanta, Georgia, and sisters, Nadine Dawson Jennings and Stephanie Dawson Honorable (Reginald) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and a special aunt, Helen Alford of St. Louis, Missouri, all of whom held a special place in his heart, and loved and cared for him deeply.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as the family and friends who brought joy to his life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 6:00-8:00pm at Leach Chapel CME Church located at 307 N Palm St, North Little Rock, AR. Funeral Service will follow on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Interment will be at Arkansas Memorial Gardens in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

David was my neighbor and friend. We all played together at a very early age. David always carried a beautiful smile and was fun to be around. It has been many years since I last seen David, however, it still seems like yesterday. Rest in peace my neighbor. We will seen each other again on the other side, To the family, God needed an Angel and he chose David. Praying for strength and comfort as you say goodbye to your loved one.
