Shannon Joe Banks, 51, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on May 2, 2025.
Born in Little Rock on September 6, 1973, Shannon was a skilled electrician, a loyal friend, a beloved son, and a proud father. He had a sharp sense of humor, a stubborn streak, and a way of making every moment with him memorable —whether by cracking a joke, pulling a prank, or speaking his mind without hesitation.
Shannon loved motorcycles, tattoos, hunting, and good company. But above all, he was a devoted dad who considered his greatest accomplishment to be his son, Dylan Joe Banks. He was incredibly proud of the man Dylan has become and loved him unconditionally. Family meant everything to Shannon, and he shared a close bond with his sister Kimberly Banks and his nieces Jesyca Wilcox (Jeremy), Taylor Knowlton, and Katherine Knowlton-Stacy (Connor).
He is survived by the above mentioned, as well as his parents, Bobby and Connie Banks and Cathy and Lee Cochran; his grandmother, Mary Foster; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Porterfield. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who knew him as someone who was always ready with a quick remark, a helping hand, or both. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jodi Porterfield (Jeff).
Shannon could be a handful—in the best way. He was a classic pester, always finding humor in the everyday and never staying too serious for long. But behind all the jokes was someone who cared deeply, loved fiercely, and lived life on his terms. His absence will be felt by many.
A celebration of life will be held at Grave’s Memorial Baptist Church on May 9th at 10am located at 4617 Oak Grove Rd, North Little Rock, AR 72118.
Arrangements by A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. 501-982-3400. Online guestbook available at www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com
