Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Arnold “Arnie” Edward Cass, age 75

Arnold “Arnie” Edward Cass passed away peacefully on June 3rd at CHI St Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Arnold was born on October 7th, 1949 in Sandwich, Illinois to his parents Russell Edward “Ed” Cass and Emma Ruth “Micky” Cass from Millington, Illinois.  He was the oldest of their three children which included his brother Frederick C. Cass and sister Janet Tomaszewski (husband Jim).
Arnie is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kathleen Ann Groves Cass.  He will be greatly missed by his wife,  siblings, as well as 2 nephews Joey and Jonathan Tomaszewski, wife’s sister Mary Irene “Mig” Crowe husband Randy and their son Steven Crowe and wife Monica, and wife’s sister Susan Marie Groves.  Kathleen also has a son Christopher Anthony Newell wife Cirila “Sylvia” Newell, and their children Christopher Anthony Newell II and Sabrina Mae Newell, as well as another grandson Jonathan Tyler Rieck. Arnold is also survived by many numerous cousins.  He was very close with his cousin Sharon Hilliard, they always had something fun to joke about.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, 20 aunts and uncles, and many other cousins.
Arnold graduated from Sandwich High School in 1967 and would still get together with some of his high school classmates.  His work life as a CNC machinist included over 25 years at Barber-Greene Company in Aurora, Illinois.  One good friend he kept in touch with was Henry Gusler of Platteville, Illinois.  He also worked at Komet of America in Schaumburg for over 10 years and kept in touch with his work friend Larry Morris now in Paris, Kentucky.  He had a couple of other jobs, his last being at Walgreens in West Dundee, Illinois until he finally retired a few years ago. They lived in the west Chicago suburbs most of their lives, and had just relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas late last November.
Arnie was an avid motorcycle enthusiast since he was in his early 20s.  He and his wife Kathleen have been Life Members of H.O.G., Harley Owners Group since the year 2000.  He enjoyed riding with his good friend Henry Gusler from Barber-Greene, and with the H.O.G. chapter in Lisle, Illinois.  Among many rides, poker runs, and other events, the highlight was in June 1998 for the 95th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when they joined 135,000 other motorcycles in the parade to celebrate.
A Celebration of Life for Arnold will be held sometime in the upcoming few months.  Kathleen and family members will contact anyone who is interested in attending.
