Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

James Kelly Owens, 64, of Waldron, Arkansas, passed away on June 3, 2025, in Searcy, Arkansas.

Born and raised in Waldron, James was known for his sharp wit, big heart, and contagious sense of humor. He was the class clown, the family jokester, and a constant source of laughter and love to those around him. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and appreciated.

James earned a four-year degree in Accounting from Arkansas Tech University and proudly served his community as both County Clerk and Circuit Clerk.

James enjoyed life to the fullest. He was passionate about playing softball, basketball, gardening, fishing, and hunting—but his greatest joy came from being “Papa.” He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and found deep happiness in family gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments.

He is survived by his children, Chelsie (Colton) Sherrill, and Casey Owens; grandchildren Blayze Charles, Carter Calhoun, Camryn Calhoun, Cade Sherrill, and Charlotte Sherrill; his brother Jeff Owens; sisters Lisa Pace and Lori (Josh) York; and numerous extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

James was preceded in death by his beloved daughter April Owens, his father Worman Owens, and his mother Sharon Owens.

A family-hosted memorial service to celebrate James’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Waldron Church of God 511 E 6th St, Waldron, AR 72958, officiated by Travis May.

James leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
