Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Larry Allen Davis, age 76

Larry Allen Davis, age 76, died June 26, 2025 in the Atkins Rehab and Nursing Home, Atkins, AR where he received outstanding care from the dedicated staff during the last seven weeks of his life. Larry was born November 5, 1948 in Little Rock, AR at the original University Hospital. He was the fourth child of eight of the late J.C. Davis, Sr. and Margie Gossett Davis of Sweet Home, AR. Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Davis Graham, his brother, Johnnie C. Davis, Jr. and an infant sister.

Larry is survived by his son, Matthew J. Davis and his beloved grandson, Zayden, of Greenbrier, AR who brought great joy to his grandfather even as his health worsened; and, a daughter  Amanda Prince (Mike) Tampa, FL.  Larry is survived by 4 sisters; Mary Miller, Sherwood, AR, Connie Clutter, Bryant, AL, Judy Beaumont (Wayne), Lampe, MO and Edna Owens (Allen), Atkins, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was kind, faithful to Christ, funny and often elusive. Larry spent the last few years of his life in a one-on-one Christian ministry in Checotah, OK that focused on veterans. He was an Army veteran and sadly lost his life from cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange chemicals used in Vietnam during his tour in 1968-69. Over the past year in Checotah, a faithful friend and brother in Christ, Mark Miller, helped Larry when family couldn’t because of the distance and we are grateful for that friendship and care.

There will be a graveside service and burial of cremains in Bayou Meto Cemetery, Jacksonville, AR Saturday, October 18, 2025 starting at 2:00 p.m. along with the service that was already scheduled for his sister, Margaret Ann Davis Graham, who died  March 25, 2025.

I’m so sorry to read this obituary as well as Margaret’s! I was a first cousin to J.C. Davis and remember him but I was somewhat younger than him. I loved the whole Davis family of Aunt Pauline and Uncle John. I wish we could have all stayed closer as the years moved on. Please know I care and I’m praying for peace from the losses of these two.

I knew Larry in High School and we had some fun times together. We played football in my front yard on Shamburger Lane in Sweet Home. He could run fast and was hard to stop! I never saw or heard from him again after I got out of the Navy in 1972. Good memories.
