In Loving Memory of Ricky A. Cook
September 3, 1958 – June 14, 2025
Ricky A. Cook, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep during the morning hours of June 14, 2025. Born on September 3, 1958, in California, Ricky’s early years took him from the West Coast to Arizona before his family eventually settled in Arkansas, where he spent most of his life.
Ricky was known for his gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He never hesitated to lend a hand, offer support, or simply be present when someone needed him. His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Caroline “Carol” Cook; his father, Veldridge “Vel” Cook; and his brother, Norman Joe Jeffery.
Ricky is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Vicky A. Mallett-Cook, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a beautiful life full of laughter, meaningful traditions, and annual trips to Florida and Georgia—cherished times especially when spent with their grandchildren.
Ricky was proud of his daughters and grandchildren: Victoria Abolafia and her husband Lucas of Florida, and their children Massimo, Avianna, Phoenix, Mila, and Londyn; Annie Pina and her husband Andres of Florida, and their son Lucas; Magan Duffy and her husband Matt of Arkansas, and their children Connor and Ryland.
Ricky is also survived by many cousins, including Larry Highfill, Terry Highfill, Deborah Parris, and Gwyn Cook—Gwyn remained especially close and lovingly kept the family informed with regular updates on Ricky’s health and progress.
To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Yampa”—a title he wore with unmatched pride and affection. His legacy lives on in their laughter, their stories, and the shared experiences they’ll carry with them always.
Ricky was exceptionally gifted with his hands—a true craftsman with a talent for carpentry, electrical work, and remodeling. There was rarely a project too big or too complex; if it was broken, he could fix it. If it didn’t exist, he could build it. His skills and creativity turned houses into homes and problems into possibilities. Ricky’s craftsmanship lives on in the many things he touched, built, and repaired for those he loved.
An avid fisherman, Ricky also found peace in nature—whether casting a line or exploring national and state parks. These quiet passions reflected the depth of his soul: calm, steady, and always present.
Ricky A. Cook will be remembered not only for his warm heart and love of the outdoors, but for the life he lived—rooted in compassion, honesty, and wholesomeness. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strong values, and a powerful reminder of what it means to live selflessly and kindly.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
