Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

William “Bill” Arden Shaver, a proud veteran, devoted family man, and passionate preservationist, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025.

Born in West Virginia in 1946, Bill lived a life defined by service, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the traditions and landscapes of his beloved home state. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life he bore with quiet pride and enduring camaraderie with fellow veterans.

A man of many passions, Bill found peace and purpose in the great outdoors. Whether he was deep in the woods on a hunting trip, traveling in his motor coach, or casting a line along a quiet riverbank, he cherished the solace of nature and the stories shared with friends beside a campfire. His lifelong fascination with trains reflected his keen eye for craftsmanship and history, often spending hours visiting historic railroads across the country.

William was a proud mason, upholding the values of brotherhood, charity, and community throughout his life. He was also actively involved in the West Virginia Preservation Society, where he worked tirelessly to protect and celebrate the state’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. His dedication helped ensure that future generations could appreciate the places and stories that shaped the Mountain State.

He is survived by his loving wife Bobbie Shaver, and children Sean Garrett, Steven (Natasha) Garrett, Staci Murawski, Sarah (VK) Sharma, and Jonna Rogers, and many grandchildren who will forever carry forward his legacy of strength, honor, and love for the simple, enduring things in life.

William Arden Shaver’s life was a testament to service—service to his country, his community, and his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Virginia Preservation Society or a veteran’s charity of your choice.

My dear friend, I’ll miss you so much! The Dragonslayers will have a 21 gun salute for you. I only wish you’d have been around long enough to read the end of DS6. It will be dedicated in your memory. Rest easy, my #1 fan.

This past year, you softened in ways I’ll never forget. Our conversations changed, and so did the way we connected. The last time I saw you, you told me you loved me, and I’m holding onto that. My heart is with mom, who sat by your side every step of the way.
Your train has come. I know you’re with Coco now. Rest easy, Bill…
