
Jane Evelyn Smith, 82, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on September 6, 2025. She was born on June 16, 1943, in Tarrytown, New York, to Richard and Cleo Henshaw.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Leslie Glen Smith Sr., who passed away on November 1, 2022. She is survived by her five children: Steven Wayne Smith, his son Patrick Smith; Ruth Haile and her husband Stephen Haile, along with Ruth’s children Richard Wayne Smith, Heather Kaker, Stephanie Haile, Kyndra Haile, and Nevaeh Haile; Richard Allen Smith and his wife Kathryn, and their son Luke Smith; Leslie Glen Smith Jr.; and Michael “Bo” Smith and his wife Rachel, along with their children Ashley, Sarah, Katelyn, Ashton Smith, Hannah and Kaitlyn. Jane also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
Jane spent her early years in Nashville, Tennessee, before moving to Greenville, Mississippi, where she met Glen, and together they built a life full of love and adventure. The family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1976, where they lived until 1995, when they moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Throughout her career, Jane worked as an Administrative Assistant for several companies, including the University of Tennessee Hospital in Memphis, and retired as a Legal Assistant from Lavey and Burnett Law Firm in Little Rock. She was a dedicated worker who touched many lives throughout her career.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Jane enjoyed camping and fishing on the Little Red River in Heber Springs. She was also an award-winning cake decorator, earning multiple first-place awards and “Best of Show” for her extraordinary cake designs. Jane was the “Biggest Fan” of the Tennessee Volunteers and enjoyed watching them play each week.
Jane was deeply committed to her faith and was active in the church throughout her life. She attended Raleigh Assembly of God in Memphis and later The River Church in Searcy, Arkansas. Her kind heart, generosity, and unwavering faith left an impression on all who knew her.
A private service will be held for Jane at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, a charity that was close to Jane’s heart.
Jane will be remembered for her loving nature, devotion to family, and the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her.

Well Mom, you finally got to see in person what you dreamed and talked about for many years, seeing Jesus. I covet what you have right now. Give Daddy a big hug for me and tell him I miss him so much. I can’t wait for the two of you to show me around when I get there. Until then, we love you and miss you.
