It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Mejia Sr., who departed this life on November 14th, 2025 at the age of 64. Born on September 9th,1961 in Thibodaux, LA to Bucket and Veronica Mejia.
Kenny is remembered as a devoted husband to Lisa and a loving father to Connie, Kenneth Jr, Michael, and Chris. He was a man of great integrity, who instilled the values of hard work, a strong relationship with God, and kindness in his family.
His career as an Offshore Vessel Captain spanned more than 30 years. His time with AOD, Stolt and Triton Diving were backdrops to most of his stories. He was known for his stern but loving and funny way of keeping ” his boys” in line.
Beyond his professional life, Kenny was passionate about being with his family, fishing and traveling any chance he got. He loved spending his weekends with his grandbabies, playing his smurf game and sharing his knowledge with anyone who would listen. He spent most of his life living on the Bayou and was always eager to help those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his children, Connie Bynum (Scott) of Cut Off, La, Kenneth Mejia Jr. (Michelle) of Houma, La, Michael Froschauer (Marie) of Jacksonville, Ar., and Chris Johnson (La’Shae) of Cabot, Ar.; his 10 grandchildren; and 3 siblings.
He was preceded in death by a daughter born sleeping, his parents, and 5 of his siblings.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in Louisiana. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

To the Best Bear Hugger known to man:
Enjoyed the interesting adventure stories while on the high seas. We will see you later!
He definitely gave the best hugs.
He certainly did. Thats one of the things I will miss the most.
Dad, you taught me what that being strong was protecting those that couldn’t, you taught me that love was the best gift to share, you taught me to be stubborn, quick witted, and not make a bet unless I was guaranteed to win. You also showed me that if I want to see the divine, I just have to see someone’s love, the sunrise over the sea, the night sky without light pollution, and that I will hear it in nature if I listen well. Last but not least you taught me on the principal of you earned it, every accomplishment, every punishment, and every achievement. I will miss you, I will keep teaching the boys the values you instilled in me, and I will keep your love as the most precious gift I ever received.
To my ex father in law who I love and will always cherish and remember. Thank you for all the hugs, love, and lessons. Your grandsons have the best guardian angel now, and I will forever be grateful for the times we shared and the love you gave. Kenneth and I’s boys are the young men they are becoming now because of the knowledge and love you have given to your wonderful son and them. You were an example of what a great man, father, and grandfather should be. Enjoy the views from heaven. May your coffee be just how you like it. I love you!
