Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Charles “Charlie” Huggins, 75, passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering love. Born on November 15, 1950, in Wrightsville, Arkansas, Charles was the cherished son of Future Mae Vaster and William Charles Huggins. Though born Charlie Huggins, most came to know and love him as Rev. Charles Huggins, a devoted servant of God whose life touched countless hearts.

Charles dedicated more than 25 years of his ministry to Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in El Centro, California, where he first served as a preacher and later as pastor. His work extended far beyond the pulpit—he was known for his community outreach, his open door to anyone in need, and his unwavering commitment to lifting others up. His service was not defined by titles, but by the compassion he showed and the lives he quietly transformed.

Charles’ joyful spirit was unmistakable. He was always smiling, always laughing—warmth that could light up any room and uplift anyone fortunate enough to be near him. His faith carried him, but his love for family grounded him. Above all else, his greatest mission in life was to ensure that his daughters were cared for, encouraged, and deeply loved.

He is survived by his three daughters—Labrilya Robinson, Charla Huggins, and Judith Huggins—who will forever cherish his devotion to them. His oldest, Labrilya, remembers how he never missed a chance to tell her how proud he was. He often reminded all his children, “No matter how old you are, you’ll always be Daddy’s baby.”

Charles also leaves behind his brother, Michael Lorings; grandchildren Miranda Huggins, Denise Robinson, Deborah Huggins, Chyna McDaniel, Joe Cox, and Jalil Glover; and his great-grandchild, Denoris Robertson Jr. Each one carries a piece of his love forward.

To honor his memory, his daughter Judith Huggins wrote the following poem for her father—words that reflect the depth of their bond and the love he inspired:

“Heaven Is Lucky to Have You”
By Judith Huggins

Heaven is lucky to have you.
I miss you dearly,
I still see your face clearly.
Your laugh and that contagious smile—
I got to be Daddy’s baby, at least for a little while.

You raised me well, you raised me right.
In a dark world, you were always my light.
My daddy, my hero, the man I could always call—
My heart breaks without you, because you were my all.

Though I’m sad to see you go, and I’ll no longer hear your voice,
I know that God has a plan and always makes the right choice.
You will no longer feel pain, no longer feel the cold;
You now live in peace and walk the streets of gold.

You were a gift to our world, and now to the angels above too.
I don’t want to let you go, but Heaven is lucky to have you.

Charles Huggins lived as a man of faith, purpose, and generosity. He loved deeply, served selflessly, and laughed wholeheartedly. His memory will continue to shine through the hearts of his family, his church, and all who were blessed to know him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

John 14:1–3

“Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.

In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.

I go to prepare a place for you.
