Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Chunyan Samantha Luter passed away at home on the morning of December 16, 2025. She was held in the arms of her husband as she left to be in the arms of the Lord. She fought a vigorous and courageous battle with lung cancer for eight and a half years.

Chunyan was born in the city of Fenyang in China on April 13, 1973. She leaves behind her husband, Craig; her family in China, her extended American family, and many beloved friends.

Many of her church family knew her as CeCe, co-workers and close friends knew her as Sam, but we celebrate her together as Chunyan, which means “Spring Swallow” in Chinese.

Chunyan came to the United States in 2005 to marry Craig. She had a Civil Engineering degree and worked in China on dams while specializing in soil and hydrogeology. She decided on a new career after coming to the US and began school as a new freshman in 2009 as a nursing student. She earned her BSN from UAMS Nursing School in 2014.She began her career as a nurse at UAMS Medical Center where she worked until her cancer diagnosis in April 2017.

Chunyan had many hobbies and especially enjoyed music and wanted to play various instruments. She did learn to play piano and enjoyed many styles of music.

Chunyan came to know the Lord while she was in college in China through the efforts of a foreigner. Her faith grew tremendously through her battle with cancer. She will be remembered for her generous heart and desire for others to know Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
