Doris Juanita “Nita” Morris, 91, of Redfield, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2025. Surrounded by love in the Redfield home of her devoted caregiver and friend Alice Thomas, Nita courageously completed her long battle with breast cancer, remaining strong and graceful until the very end.
Born August 15, 1934, to the late Lois Eugenia Ford and Lewis “Shorty” Ford, Nita was a true daughter of Redfield and one of its sweetest souls. Nita was one of 11 siblings she had seven brothers and three sisters, the siblings included: Charles Hubbard, Howard Hubbard, Kenneth Ford, Phillip Ford, Joe Ford, Jerry Ford, Alvin Ford, & Jimmy Ford, Faye Hubbard Moore, Lavern Ford Little, & Dorothy Ford Bogard. She was the mother to 4 children who have gone on before her: William Dickie Thomas, twins Cecil and Sheila Thomas, and Scott Thomas. To everyone who knew her, she was simply “Nita,” the lady who greeted every person-friend or stranger-with an affectionate “sweet baby” and a radiant smile.
Nita’s joy was contagious. She loved working alongside friends at the Redfield flea market, hunting for hidden treasures, sipping strong coffee, listening to good music, dancing whenever the mood struck, and dressing to the nines. Even in the face of profound loss and hardship throughout her life, she remained a pioneer woman-resilient, faith-filled, and forever optimistic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and many loved ones who went before her. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her sister, Lavern Ford Little; her brother, Kenneth Ford; three grandchildren: Bill Thomas, Charlie Thomas, and Josi Owens (Rodger); two great-grandchildren: Blaine Thomas and Allie Owens; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to be called “sweet baby” by Nita.
Redfield has lost one of its brightest lights, but Heaven has gained an angel who is surely already dancing, smiling, and telling everyone, “Hey, sweet baby.” She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Celebration of life will be made at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. An online guestbook is available at www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com.
