Ronald Joe Johnson, Jr was born on April 30, 1972 to Wanda (Joslin) Rounsaville and Ronald (Ronnie) Johnson, Sr. and passed on November 21, 2025 at the age of 53. Ron was born and raised in Saline County, living in Mabelvale for many years.
Ron leaves behind his children, Zach Johnson (Sarah) and Macie Dunn (Parker), his grandchildren Cayden Goree, Preslea (PJ) and Elizah Johnson, and Demi Dunn, his sister Rhonda Tarnowsky (Mark) and brother Tommie Johnson (Nikki), step-sisters Tracy Skaggs and Tina Clift, 4 nieces and 4 nephews, and the mother of his children, Bridgett Johnson.
Ron is pre-deceased by his parents, grandparents, step-mom Nikki Johnson, step-dad Max Skaggs, and step-brothers Chris Smith and Jack Smith.
He was Ron to most, Bub to his little sister, Ron-Ron to cousins and childhood friends, Too Tall in his teens, then Dad, Grandpa and One-Eyed Joe. Ron lived his life by his own terms and his own set of rules. Full throttle all the time, without a thought for the consequences, and it seemed sometimes trouble and accidents were his closest friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, at the river or gathered around a fire with good music, friends or family.
Through it all, he was self-less. When he loved, he loved hard. If he loved you, you knew it and well, if he didn’t you probably knew that, too. He was full of laughter, always out for a good time and never met a stranger. Life was not always kind to him and he fought personal battles most will never know or understand, with fight and determination that would leave you shaking your head.
Although he wasn’t much for school, he had a successful career with Arkansas Sign and Neon that he enjoyed for many years. He earned several certifications that he was very proud of along the way. A near-fatal car accident took that career from him several years ago, but he talked about it often, telling stories about different jobs and co-workers and how much he missed his work.
He will be loved always, and missed deeply.
Memorial Service will be Monday, December 8, 2025 at 2:00pm at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. Ron’s brother Tommie Johnson will provide the eulogy.
