Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Kaye Naylor Hoover, 77, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 2, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Hazael and Louise Naylor.

Kaye devoted much of her life to serving others. She spent her career nurturing children and young people as a children’s minister and youth director in United Methodist churches across Arkansas, and later as the director of the Child Development Center in downtown Little Rock. Through her work, she touched and shaped the lives of countless children and families. Her faith was a steady, guiding force in her life, and she remained active in her church community throughout the years.

Kaye also had a deep passion for Ozark Mission Project, where she served for many years as a camp director and dedicated board member. Through this ministry, she lived out her lifelong calling to love children, support families, and strengthen communities across the state.

In recognition of her impact, Kaye received the 2006–2007 Steel Hendrix Award at Hendrix College for her work in children’s ministry. This past summer, she was honored at First United Methodist Church as a speaker in their Living Legends series.

Some of Kaye’s favorite moments were the simple, joyful ones spent with her family. She loved being on the lake, fishing, crafting, sewing, and wandering the aisles of TJ Maxx. One of her favorite sayings was, “Love you more.” She delighted in all things Christmas, bright colors, and an ice-cold Diet Coke.

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Hazael and Louise Naylor, and her brothers, Jimmy Naylor and Eddie Naylor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Paul Hoover; her daughters, Jennifer Sullivan (Wes) and Jill Dyer (John); and her sons, Vincent Hoover and Ross Hoover (Megan). She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Julia Hughes (Grant), Wade Hoover (Jenna), Riley Rosenow (Brady), Clara Sullivan, Hope Dyer, Noah Dyer, Emmy Dyer, Annie Dyer, Laken Hoover, and Waylynn Hoover; and one great-grandchild, Hazel Hughes. She is also survived by her brothers, Bobby Naylor (Margaret) and Bill Naylor (Janet), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, several who considered her a second mom or “Mimi,” and many close friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, Arkansas, with a reception to follow.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and friends: Junior Thatch, Michael Thatch, Bart Naylor, David Naylor, Carl Naylor, Dean Naylor, James Naylor, Tim Hoover, Randy Hoover, Clay Bumpers, Will Matheny, Chris Shenep, Courtney Michael, George Couch, Rob Hagan, Rob O’Connor, Phil Wood, Brian Steele, Hunter Naylor and Peter Skarda.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ozark Mission Project in her honor: https://ozarkmissionproject.org/support

Kaye will be remembered for her generous heart, joyful spirit, and steadfast faith. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she shared so freely.

Kaye was such a caring person and positive influence on my life. We shared many good times through the Henderson Methodist Youth Group and trips to Ozark Mission Project. Whether it was me talking her down from a spelunking panic attack or her taking me to the ER for an OMP mishap, so many memories come to mind when I think about Kaye. Years later she kept an eye on my oldest son when he was a toddler at the Methodist CDC. We love and miss you, Kaye. Natalie and I send our prayers and love to the Hoover family.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a dear friend. I will forever be thankful for the impact Kaye had on my son in his teen years as well as other youth at church, and then the loving care of my grandson at CDC. Kaye lived her faith and I have no doubt that when she met Jesus face-to-face that He said “well done, good and faithful servant!” My continued prayers for the Hoover family! Kaye was so loved by so many! What a legacy!

It has been quite some time since I saw or interacted with Kaye and Paul and their children. When I heard of her passing, I was reminded of one of the most kind and motherly neighbors in Otter Creek. There was always room for another at her table. I extend my condolences to the family and the wealth of friends who shall surely miss her.
