Susan Marie Hortman, 67, of Glenwood, AR, passed away January 30th, 2026. She was born on January 10th, 1959, in Indiana.
Susan was taken suddenly and unexpectedly from her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all. She was a faithful member of Community Bible Baptist Church in Glenwood, AR. She recently retired from Weger Crystal Mine in Mount Ida, AR, where she looked forward to going to work each day. She couldn’t wait to get home and hang out with her husband, Wayne. She loved her home; she always said that it was where she found God, love, devotion, happiness, and rest. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and feeding the deer. She loved being out in nature, and the way she lived was a true testament to the fact that God is real, and she always carried herself in a way that honored Him.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her love and compassion were a light to all that knew her, and we can only pray that we carry her light forward for her until we surely meet again. In the meantime, she will be missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Jacob, mother Charlene (Joseph) Ellery, and sister Christine Hanna. She is survived by her loving husband Wayne Hortman, daughter Tiffany Nesbit (Brian), grandson Cody Nesbit, brothers David Dillman (Kathy), Paul Jacob, and Timothy Jacob, sisters Linda Ray and Dorthy Miles, and a host of precious nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for the family will be decided at a later date.

Aunt Susan,
I love you! You were taken so soon. I feel like time is too shot in life and I’m going to miss you! I was so shocked to find out how fast this turned. You kept the family together after grandma passed. I took for granted time we have in this world. I miss you Greatly! I hope that you find peace. Although we weren’t super close I have many treasured memories and see your bright smile every time you I think of you. You’re beautiful through and through! God has a special place for you! As you watch over the family I hope we grow closer.
With all my love

Susan brought so much light to me. I will miss her kindness and warmth forever. The love Sue and Wayne shared will always be a beautiful legacy. Rest in peace dear Sue. You will be missed more than words can say.
Susan was a coworker of mine, that was how we met. But over time, she became much more than that. She was a role model, not just for me, but for anyone who was willing to learn from her.
After all of the years of hard work in preparation for retirement, I wish Susan got more than just 3 weeks of it.
Of all of the people that showed good, and deserved good, it was Susan. She was one of the genuinely best people I ever knew. She was selfless and kind.
I’m sure that Susan will be rewarded for the life she lived. But let’s all do out part and tell her story, because it was a good one.
