
Johnny Dean Watts, 93, died peacefully March 24, 2026. He was born February 20, 1933, in Hot Springs, the son of Johnnie N. and Clara (Lawler) Watts.
Johnny joined the US Navy in 1949, proudly serving during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Wanda (Thomas) Watts, in school, marrying in 1950. Johnny spent his entire career in the newspaper business. An avid golfer, he enjoyed his family more than anything. With Wanda by his side, he built a beautiful life filled with love, joy, and memories. Known for his kind heart and easy going nature, he was truly admired by everyone he met. He will be missed by so many, but he leaves behind a legacy of love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, his daughter Rene’ McCallister and son-in-law Mark Davis. Surviving in addition to his wife Wanda of 75 years are his daughters Tina, husband Bill, Robertson; Tammy, husband Ray, Corbishley; and Lissa Davis; son-in-law Dwayne McCallister; brother Danny, wife Bobbie, Watts. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and their spouses, along with 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Family will be having a private entombment at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 2:00pm at the home of Dwayne McCallister; 21115 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, Arkansas 72110.
