Judy Short McGuire passed away on February 21, 2026, after a long and courageous illness, just days before her 73rd birthday.
Judy was born on February 28, 1953, in Newport, to her loving parents, Homer A. Short and Juanita Winfrey Short. She was raised with strong family values that she carried with her throughout her life.
Judy was married to her devoted husband, Charles McGuire, for 54 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and commitment.
She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Charles Lane McGuire, and a cherished grandmother to her two granddaughters, Farah McGuire and Faith McGuire, who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ronald Short and Stanley Short; and one sister, Vickie Short.
Judy is survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Cindy Short Carty and her husband, Adam Carty, of Hot Springs; her devoted husband, Charles McGuire; her son; her granddaughters; extended family; and many dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
