Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Our beloved angel, Michael Evans Spears, born March 18, 1953, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to James William Spears and Catherine Louella Evans, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 23, 2026.

Michael was, above all else, a true soldier of God. His life was a testament to unwavering faith, perseverance, and strength. He faced challenges that would have shaken most, yet he met each one with grit, determination, and a steadfast belief that God was not finished with him yet—and more often than not, he proved it. If there was a battle to fight, Michael showed up ready, trusting that the outcome was already in greater hands.

Michael found joy in the simple things, especially spending time with his beloved wife, Margie, and cheering on his Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. His loyalty to both teams was unwavering and deeply rooted. Game days were taken seriously, and he followed every play with the focus and intensity of someone who could have easily been on the sidelines himself. Whether it was the Razorbacks or the Cowboys, Michael stayed committed through every high, low, and “next year will be our year” season—always believing and always watching.

Those who knew Michael will never forget his one-of-a-kind “voice.” Whether he was watching a game, telling a story, or simply narrating a moment, he had a way of bringing things to life as if you were right there in the action. It wasn’t uncommon for a regular afternoon to turn into a full broadcast, complete with commentary, enthusiasm, and perfect timing.

Michael enjoyed life in his own way (which, as many know, was usually the right way). He wasn’t one to offer unsolicited advice, but instead, he listened patiently, giving others the space to be heard. When he did speak, it carried weight, sincerity, and often just the right touch of humor. Whether sharing a laugh or simply being present, he brought comfort, warmth, and a steady presence to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Sandra Ann Diemer; his father, James Spears; mother Melba Spears; birth mother, Catherine Evans; his brother, Terry Spears; and his sister, Patricia Loftin.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Margie Lewis Spears; his grandson, Hunter Harris (Kourtney Vincent); great-grandchildren, Hunter Harris, Jr. and Harper Harris. He is also survived by his sister, Billie Sue Reed; his brother, Steven Spears (LeeAnn) nephew Connor Spears; his brother, Thomas Spears (Ada); and his sister in law, Earlene Lewis Carlton; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.

A funeral service will be held on May 1st at A Natural State Funeral Home, 2620 W Main St, Jacksonville, AR. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery, 7401 Highway 5N, Alexander, AR.

Though his absence is deeply felt, there is comfort in knowing that Michael has received his ultimate healing and victory. As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Michael did just that—and now he rests in eternal peace.

His life, his faith, and his courageous spirit, will not be forgotten.
