
Paul Ashley Overstreet, 85, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2026. He was born May 20, 1940 in Bald Knob, AR to the late Earl Ashley Overstreet and Neva Katherine Overstreet Johnston.
He graduated from Bald Knob High School and was a proud Bulldog football player. Until the last few years, he was known to enjoy a lunch with “the Old Jocks Club” at Market Place Café in Bald Knob. He went to Hendrix College in Conway on a football scholarship. After college, he worked for Arkansas Power and Light before joining his uncle and cousins at Overstreet Builders. He went on to become a real estate appraiser at First Federal Savings and Loan. He then opened his own business, Overstreet Appraisal service, from which he retired.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He was a former member of Moon Lake Hunting club. He served the community of Searcy and White County in different capacities as a member of the Searcy City Council, Rotary Club, Unity Health Auxiliary volunteer, and as a White County Constable. He was a long-standing member of Grace Methodist Church before becoming a charter member of St. Paul Global Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many years and serving on various committees. In addition to singing, he loved to play guitar, especially songs by Johnny Cash. He enjoyed singles and doubles tennis. He never met a stranger!
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Janis Overstreet; his children Paul Ashley Overstreet II (Susan) of Judsonia, Dr. Katherine Durham (D.J.) of Searcy, stepdaughter Kristen Speer of Fayetteville, stepson Kevin Speer (Lori) of Fayetteville; 9 grandchildren, Shaun Jemtegaard (Anna), Garrett Reaper, Joshua Reaper (Molly), Abigail Durham, Kenton and Cole Lambert, Charlotte, Cooper, and Spencer Speer.; and two great-grandchildren Louie and Benny Reaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jeanine Cypert, brother-in-law Leo Cypert, his daughter Susannah Reaper, and his daughter-in-law Pamela Overstreet.
Services will be conducted Friday May 15, 2026 at St Paul Global Methodist Church in Searcy with Pastor Clefton Vaughan officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his wonderful caregiver Peggy Duncan and the staff of Life Touch Hospice care under the leadership of Dr. Sydney Neel for their care over the past two years.
