Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Phoebe D. Harris, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 17, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was raised in Addis, Louisiana, where she developed the joyful, kindhearted spirit that would define her entire life.

Phoebe is survived by her devoted husband, William D. Harris Sr.; her children: Joy Tiner, Anna Holland, William David Harris Jr. and wife Lindsay Harris, and Ryan Harris; her grandchildren: Brenden Harris, Kayleigh Roberson, Fisher Harrison, Natalie Shaw, Jolene Guenther, Jacob Hooper, Everly Harris, Osias Moss, and Eliason Moss; her great-granddaughter, Kimber Shaw; and her brother, John Younger and wife Karen Younger. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward and John Emma Younger, and her sisters: Peggy Tidwell and husband John Tidwell, George Anna Durrett, and Eleanor Sheffer and husband John Sheffer.

Phoebe was many things in this life — a teacher, photographer, swimming instructor, encourager, servant, and faithful follower of Christ — but above all, she was proudest of being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and her favorite place in the world was simply wherever the people she loved were gathered together, with bonus points if it was near water or included camping and playing spades with her family.

She had a heart that never hardened with age. Those who know Phoebe know of her pure and innocent spirit, her childlike joy, and the way she could make ordinary moments feel lighthearted and special. She was silly, warm, compassionate, and endlessly giving. Whether she was laughing with her children, teaching children, taking more photographs than she had storage, sitting by the lake, or camping under the stars, Phoebe found beauty and joy in the simple gifts God gave.

Her faith was the foundation of her life, and her undoubted commitment to her husband and children. Phoebe loved the Lord deeply and served Him faithfully through her church and community. She had a master’s degree in religious education. She poured herself into teaching children at various schools, Sunday schools, Vacation Bible School, Women on Missions, and other church activities to include Wednesday night dinners. Phoebe volunteered at the voting polls, did outreach to nursing homes, and always sought ways to encourage and care for others. She lived out her faith consistently, loving people well and making everyone around her feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

Though her family’s hearts are broken by this loss, they rejoice in knowing that Phoebe is now fully at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her laughter, kindness, gentleness, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.

Visitation services will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Martindale Baptist Church, 18900 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72210.

The family asks that those attending honor Phoebe not only with their presence, but by carrying forward the kindness, joy, and love she so freely gave to others throughout her life.
