Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Barbara Moss Fisher, age 84, of Cabot, AR, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, waking up in the arms of her Savior after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer.

Barbara was born February 26, 1942, in Ballard County Kentucky.

She is survived by her children Rob (Fran) Fisher, Melissa (Chris) Cochran, grandchildren KaLynn (Kenneth) Chinchilla, Karlie Fisher, Connor Cochran, Summer Cochran, and Caden Cochran, great grandchildren Sylas, Abel, and Colton, and her sister Mayetta Leigh (wife of the late Rodney Leigh), as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Inez Moss, her brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Janis Moss, her niece Rhonda Buchanan, and many other family and friends she loved and lost along the way with whom she is reunited in glory!

Known as “Mrs. Fisher” to generations of students, Barbara taught math for nearly 40 years. She began her teaching career in Tennessee, but most of her teaching years were spent in Orange Park, Florida. Wherever she was—whether in the halls at school, at church, in the grocery store, or around town—she rarely made it far without greetings, hugs, and smiles from current and former students and their families, many of whom remained in touch throughout the years.

Upon her return to Ballard County (her “Old Kentucky Home”), where she moved after retiring from teaching in Florida, she was affectionately known as “Aunt Barbara,” to her many nieces and nephews as well as their friends. A title she affectionately and proudly carried.

Barbara’s Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She was blessed wherever she lived to be a part of wonderful churches. She was grateful to have called Orange Park United Methodist, Blandville Baptist, LaCenter Baptist, and most recently Cabot First Baptist her church homes. She was an active member, devoted friend, and dedicated prayer warrior wherever she went.

Barbara deeply loved her family and friends and was always up for an adventure to destinations near and far. If somebody said “Let’s go,” she grabbed her purse and didn’t ask questions! She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe, Kentucky, with Larry Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Blandville, Kentucky.

Visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. until the service time of 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe.

Barbara Fisher was a wonderfully unique Christian friend. We worked next-door together for many years and had so many shenanigans together as we enjoyed working with those crazy junior high students. Every day was something to look forward to with Barbara next door. She was an excellent teacher, an uplifting Christian woman, and a friend to so many. I was so happy that she did get to return to her “old Kentucky home” where she enjoyed many years of retirement. Barbara Fisher will remain one of those unforgettable people in my life; I was so blessed to know her.

Barbra was a wonderful soul, I had the pleasure of caring for her in her final days. She could always make me laugh during a hard day at work. Her family was super sweet I loved to get to know Barbara and hear her stories and talk about her savior. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.
