
Gene Howell Easom, Sr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived 83 wonderful years. Born on April 2, 1943 in Lynn Haven, Florida, to his parents Howell and Mina Belle Easom. He was the second of four children (Joel Easom, Kenny Dyvig, Kathy Star). Gene’s life was a testament of love, faith, and devotion. Gene and Andrea married in 1962, their love lasted 64 years. Together, they built a legacy of love and family that will continue to inspire those who knew them. Their union brought forth three wonderful children: Gene Easom, Jr., married to Vickie Easom; David Easom; and Janet Justice, married to Jeff Justice. Gene was immensely proud of his children and took great joy in watching them grow into who they are today. A family man through and through, Gene was blessed with six grandchildren (Ashley Faggion, Justin Easom, Noah Easom, Cole and Meghan Smith, Gabe Easom) and eight great-grandchildren (Kaylie, Jacob, Mackenzie, Isabella, and Luke Easom, Oliver, Elliot, Madelyn Faggion) each brought an abundance of joy and pride to his life. Gene’s life was marked by his faith in Christ and love for people. In his earlier years, he was a deacon at Chicot Road Baptist Church. Later, becoming an active member at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and in the choir. His warm smile and friendly spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend and honor a life well-lived.

Andrea dear, I am so sorry to learn of Gene’s passing. He was a prince of a fellow, and sure enough had a smile that lit up rooms. I pray that precious memories soon ease the sadness of this day.
