
Paul Hooten, 83, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on June 7, 2026, in his hometown. Born on February 15, 1943, in El Paso, TX, Paul spent his life deeply connected to the community where he was raised.
Paul was a devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Carla Hooten. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Leland of Chicago, Illinois, and a proud stepfather to Erick Brown of San Diego, California, and Chris Fishburn of Sherwood, Arkansas. He cherished the time spent with his many nieces and nephews and held dear the bonds he shared with them. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Ocel and Agnes Hooten, as well as his brothers, James and Gary Hooten.
A man who found joy in nature’s beauty, Paul had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing on quiet waters, hunting in the woods of Arkansas, and riding horses through open fields. These activities brought him peace and fulfillment throughout his life.
Paul was a dedicated member of Bethel Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas. His faith was an important part of his life and provided him with strength and guidance. Known for his vivid personality and kindness, Paul left an indelible mark on those who knew him. His warmth and generosity will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Paul Hooten will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
