Unfortunately, you cannot hold back the hands of time, and our daddy’s last day was July 20, 2026.

Our daddy was blessed with many healthy years and lived in a heaven on earth during the years he spent in his cabin on Crowley’s Ridge.

Daddy was passionate about two things above all else—nature and his children. He always made time for us and was happiest whenever we were with him. Our lives were deeply influenced by him. As children, he spent countless hours teaching us life skills. Backing a boat trailer and learning our multiplication tables are memories that especially stand out. He taught us to hunt, fish, camp, and coached our baseball teams. He especially loved nature, teaching us to identify trees and flowers and showing us how to appreciate God’s creation.

As adults, Daddy continued to stay closely connected through phone calls, text messages, and always welcoming us whenever we stopped by. One of his greatest joys was taking Delana to church on Easter, a tradition he treasured almost as much as never wanting to leave the Ridge.

Dad had a feisty, spirited, and sometimes stubborn personality that brought challenges along the way. Yet over the years, we watched him grow into a gentler, more social version of himself, surrounded by many friends and acquaintances. He was blessed to live independently until the last few months of his life and passed quickly, without pain or suffering.

Our family would like to thank everyone who helped him during his senior years—the kindness of the West Helena and Helena communities, his many friends and family, and the compassionate staff at Lonoke Health and Rehab.

Although relationships sometimes have boundaries, there was never a boundary between our love for him and his love for us.

May we all learn to love like Jesus loves us.

Samuel Edward Buzzard, of West Helena, Arkansas, passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 79.

Samuel was born on February 10, 1947, in West Virginia to the late James and Jewell Buzzard.

He is survived by his son, Ethan (Tera) Buzzard of Lonoke, Arkansas; his daughter, Delana Potter of Redfield, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Keeshan, Kyle, and William; and his sister, Dianne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judy; and his great-granddaughter, Waydee.

A memorial service to celebrate Samuel’s life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates the thoughts and prayers of all who knew and loved him during this time.
