Alice Christine Merriman, age 81, of Floyd, Arkansas passed away on June 28, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1944 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Adrian Downs and Ora Porter Downs.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Merriman; daughter Janice Merriman; sisters Glenda Hall, Mary Lawson, Delieta Bookout; brothers Laverne Downs, Larry Downs; and daughter-in-law Sharon Sterling.

She is survived by her son David Merriman; grandson Todd Merriman (Sylvia); two sisters Wanda Downs and Rita Harkleroad; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Alice enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers and spent time doing seasonal farm work with her husband, Joe, before she retired. In her retirement, she enjoyed maintaining her yard, flowers, and growing food in her garden. She also spent her time doing arts and crafts like beading, crocheting, and needlepoint. She loved to watch birds and squirrels in her yard and enjoyed watching nature documentaries on TV. Christine will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

A family-hosted graveside service will be held on July 19, 2026 at 11:00am at Floyd Cemetery (Ballpark).
