Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Angie Lena Simpson, age 89, passed away peacefully in 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion and service to her family and community.

Born on August 24, 1936, in Hazen Arkansas, Angie was the daughter of Olga and Steve Chlapecka Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marie; her brother Steve Chlapecka Jr; her beloved husband of 45 years, Thomas Simpson; and her son Richard Simpson.

A 1954 graduate of Hazen High School, Angie soon married the love of her life, Tom and proudly embraced a life of an AirForce wife for 28 years. Together they traveled the country before eventually setting in Jacksonville, Arkansas, where they made their home following Tom’s retirement from the military service.

Above all else, Angie treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother to three sons, and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She rarely missed a school event, ballgame, or activity, always cheering on her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and support.

Angie is survived by her sons, David Simpson and wife Regina Simpson, and Todd Simpson and wife Beth, daughter-in-law Karen Simpson; grandchildren Blake Simpson and wife, Kenzi; Brooke Simpson; Benjamin Simpson; Bradley Zaeske and wife Annie; Michael Simpson; Kale Simpson and wife Nancy; and Eric Simpson and wife, Niki; and great grandchildren Jocelyn and Hadley Simpson, Ella Forrester, Keegan and Rhodes Simpson, and Cooper and Carter Simpson, Emelia Zaeske. Also her sister Dorothy Riddell and sister-in-law Reta Chlapecka.

Throughout her life, Angie had several jobs, primarily in collections, but the work that brought her the greatest joy was serving others through the Jacksonville Hospital Auxiliary. She generously volunteered countless hours in the hospital gift shop and faithfully served as the Auxiliary’s treasurer for many years.

Angie had a creative spirit and found happiness in sewing, crafting and spending time with friends. Although fishing was never her favorite pastime, she loved accompanying Tom on his fishing trips, content to relax with a good book while he fished.

Angie will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous heart, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for her family. The example she set through a lifetime of kindness, service, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Memorials can be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church Stuttgart, AR.
