Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Betty Jean Sulton was born to Rush Sulton and Thelma Fitzgerald Sulton, on Wednesday, February 12th, 1930, in a small, rustic, four-room shack, in Big Creek, Arkansas.  And was promoted to glory around 10 pm, Friday evening, July 3rd, 2026, at the age of 96 years, 4 months, and 20 days.  Today, we celebrate her life and faith knowing, “To be Absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord!”

Betty Sulton met Lester Burton at South Central Bible College in 1950, and on Friday, March 9th, 1951, were married at First Assembly of God Church in Malvern, Ar.

Lester and Betty Jean Burton were married for 60 years and 6 months.

Betty Burton was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rush and Thelma Sulton; her husband, Rev. Lester Burton; two sisters, Merle Dean Jackson and Charlotte Key Marlin; and two great-grandchildren, Hughston Burton and Dixie Burton.

Betty Burton is survived by two sisters, Sue McDonald of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Joyce Yount of Vilonia, Arkansas. Betty Burton is also survived by her three children.  Donna Young [Raymond] of Bigelow, Arkansas; Larry Burton [Marilyn] of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Kevin Burton [Janica] of Falcon Crest, North Carolina. She is also survived by eight Grandchildren: Chad Young [Shana], Stephanie Abrao [Edson], Kristen Brown [Ross], Justin Burton [Melonie], Austin Burton, Haley Burton, River Burton, and Paisley Burton.  And 10 great- grandchildren: Grayson Young [Elizabeth], Eden Vickers [Canyon], Stratton Young, Giovanni Abrao, Caio Abrao, Layne Burton, Leighton Burton, Eva Grace Burton, Beckett Brown, and Isla Brown.

Betty Burton graduated from South Central Bible College in 1951.  Betty and her husband, Lester Burton were involved in ministry for 50 years, serving as the Senior Pastor for Bethel, Pinnacle, Jacksonville First, Oak Forest, Southwest, Benton First, and Star City First Assembly of God.  After retirement, Betty worked for 11 years at McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Betty was a gifted Teacher, Leader, Pastor’s wife, and Communicator.  Her greatest attributes were her love for people, compassion, commitment to Christ, and prayer life.  Her impact has been felt by many through the years. We feel our assessment of the impact of Mom’s lifetime of loving Jesus mirrors the epitaph God gave Moses.  God said, He was “Gentle rain on Tender herbs.”

We would like to Thank, the Administration and Staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, in Little Rock, Arkansas, for their loving care of our mom in the last year of her life.

Funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, at Crystal Hill Baptist Church, 18823 Crystal Valley Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, at 2 pm, Thursday, July 9th, with Visitation beginning at 1 pm till 2 pm.

Interment will be at Pinecrest Cemetery in Bryant, Arkansas.

I’ve known and loved Sister Burton since 2000 when I started attending church at McArthur Assembly of God. She was one of the most Godly woman I’ve known. If she said she would pray for you, you can be absolutely sure she touched heaven on your behalf.
