Herschel A. Bowman Jr., of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born in Little Rock on February 13, 1942, to the late Herschel A. Bowman Sr. and Selma Porbeck Bowman.

Herschel graduated from Hall High School in 1960 and continued his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating in 1964. During his freshman year, he was a Cardinal 20 and was also a proud member of the Pike fraternity.

A dedicated member of his community, Herschel served as President of the Sherwood, Arkansas Chamber of Commerce and President of the Sherwood Rotary Club. He also proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air National Guard.

Herschel enjoyed a long and successful career in commercial real estate. He was co-owner of Dietz/Bowman Commercial Real Estate in North Little Rock, where he worked until his retirement in 2013. Throughout his career, he was respected for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the people and communities he served.

An avid outdoorsman, Herschel found great joy in spending time outdoors and appreciating the beauty and adventure of nature. His love of the outdoors was one of the many things that reflected his independent spirit and zest for life.

Herschel is survived by his beloved wife, Pam Burnett Bowman; his children, Michele Bowman of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Zack (Krystil) Bowman of Clinton, Arkansas; Sean Bowman of Corpus Christi, Texas; and stepdaughter Tori (Tanner) Kilburn of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Madison Bowman, Tucker Kilburn, Dane Bowman, Creed Brown, and Kendile Brown. He leaves behind his sisters, Carole (Charlie) Cook, Gayle (Robert) Gall, and Christie (Cindy Durnal) Bowman, as well as his dearest and longest childhood friend, Dr. Harvey “Bunny” Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Herschel will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country and community, his career in real estate, his love of the outdoors, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, service, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
