Alberta Lee McCauley Pearson embarked on her final adventure on October 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories shared with family and friends, along with an artistic legacy that cannot be measured.
Alberta was born to John McCauley and Sybil Hightower on October 17, 1933. From an early age, she pursued her passion for art, viewing the world through an open-minded and imaginative lens that allowed her to see beauty, meaning, and color where others might not. Her extraordinary perspective on life became the foundation of a remarkable artistic journey.
Alberta earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). She continued her education at the University of Memphis, where she earned her MFA, PhD, and Doctorate of Fine Arts. Her deep love for art inspired her to share her knowledge, creativity, and passion with generations of aspiring artists. She taught a multitude of artistic disciplines at UALR for multiple years, leaving her mark not only through her own creations but also through the students she inspired.
Her paintings, vibrant canvases, and intricate sculptures captured the complexity of the human spirit, transforming raw materials into expressions of love, loss and hope. Through her distinctive use of color and form, Alberta developed an artistic voice uniquely her own, leaving a lasting impression on the art community and all who had the privilege of experiencing her work.
Alberta is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Perry Pearson; her brothers, Frank (Carolyn), Bill (Sonja), and Dawn; and her sisters, Anne (Rod), and Linda (Charles).
She is survived by her brothers, Ray (Kathy) and Richard (Kathy); her sisters, Hazel and May (Frank) her children, Teresa (Jimmy), Pete (Tammy), and Tom; her grandchildren, Amanda Evans, Paul, Jonathan, Holly, Michael, Paige, Taylor, Brileigh, Bradley, Christopher, and Tyler; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Alberta’s life was a testament to the power of creativity, curiosity, and seeing the world differently. Though she has embarked on her final adventure, the beauty she brought into the world will endure. Her art holds pieces of her heart, her perspective, and her spirit—ensuring that a part of Alberta will live on in every canvas, sculpture, and life she touched.
Her art will remain. Her legacy will endure. And the colors she brought into this world will never fade.
