Kathleen M. Kennedy
01-13-1926 to 10-31-2026
Kathleen made her goal of living to 100. She credited her son, Damian, with helping her achieve this goal due to his great cooking. Kathleen’s life was well lived.
In her teenage years and early 20’s she was an accomplished Irish dancer in New York with dozens of medals and awards. She performed at the 1939 World’s fair and at Carnegie Hall. She moved to California in the 40’s and her excellence in Irish dancing landed her dancing roles in the films “My Wild Irish Rose” and “Top O’ the Morning”. She also choreographed the dancing for the film “The Luck of the Irish”.
After her brief, but fun, stint in Hollywood she went to work as an avionics installer at several major aircraft manufacturers. She loved to travel and took several camping trips to neighboring states when her children were young. She moved to Arkansas in the 1970’s and finished raising her 4 children. After she retired, she went on trips with her daughter, Angela, several times a year to various places around the world. She was active at the Mayflower Senior Center for many years and loved to dress up for just about any holiday, but particularly St. Patrick’s Day. After she was no longer able to drive to the center, her son, Warren, made sure she still attended the center to play her favorite game: Mexican Train. She often said going to the center was the highlight of her week. She greatly appreciated her sons, Damian and Warren, for enabling her to stay in her home until the final 4 days of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Damian and Warren Pitchford, and her daughter, Angela Dominique.
She was predeceased by her son, Stuart Pitchford.
Kathleen loved to have a good time and would wish everyone to think about the good times they had with her and smile.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mayflower Senior Center in her name.
No funeral services will be held.
